What we transfer
Preserve recordings before the equipment becomes harder to find
Tapes deteriorate with age and storage conditions, while working playback equipment becomes less common. Digitising gives you a practical copy you can store in more than one place and play on modern devices.
Every tape is handled as an irreplaceable original. We aim to capture the best result the source allows rather than promising quality that is not present on the tape.
Video standard: we currently support PAL video tapes only.

Care before conversion
Step 01
Protect the recording
Where applicable, the record tab is removed so a tape cannot be accidentally recorded over.
Step 02
Inspect the tape
We check for obvious damage or mould before putting the tape through equipment.
Step 03
Prepare playback
Video tapes are carefully wound through before capture to help with smooth playback.
Step 04
Capture and deliver
The recording is transferred and prepared in the agreed digital format.

Important source-quality note: tapes with mould or significant physical damage may not be safe to transfer. Final quality also depends on the condition and quality of the original recording. We will contact you if inspection identifies a problem.
