Memories can become hard to access
Family videotapes often sit untouched because working players are less common and magnetic tape does not last forever. Even when a cassette looks fine on the shelf, age can gradually make reliable playback more difficult.
Digital copies make sharing easier
Once a recording has been transferred to a modern file, it can be stored alongside other family photos and videos, copied for relatives and watched on current devices. That turns a box of tapes into something the family can actually use again.
Formats we work with
Artisan Media can digitise PAL VHS and several common camcorder formats including MiniDV, Video8, Digital8 and VHS-C. Audio cassette transfer is also available. If you are unsure what format you have, send us a photo or bring it in and we can help identify it.
Do not rely on one copy
Digitising is only the first step. Keep at least two copies of important family recordings in different places—for example, one on a computer or external drive and another in cloud storage or on a second drive.
